Oregon has a lot of hiking trails. We have been to quite a few places for hiking. One Saturday, as we were thinking of places where we could go hiking, we decided to check a few places closer home. And eureka, we had a hiking trail considerably close by - Tryon Creek State Park which is the only state park in Oregon within the metropolitan area, being only a few minutes from Portland downtown.

We drove down there and let me tell you, it is beautiful. A state park inside a city is something unbelievable. We both excitedly looked at the trail map and decided to go on a 2.0 mile hike. It is not a very difficult hike, infact, it is a nice place to walk among the greenery and listen to some natural noises. The path is maintained very well and also, we found the park to be unusually peaceful, probably, because we had chosen a day when there weren't many people around.

Tryon Park is a good place for a weekday or weekend retreat to unwind, or get some exercise done within a natural environment very much in the city but far from the city space.
